Welcome to the Baby Room!
We’re so excited to share what our youngest learners have been exploring throughout their time with us! In the Baby Room (ages 0-2years), every day is full of discovery, play, and new experiences. Here’s a peek into what your child has been learning:
Week 14
In the Baby Room this week we have been making Christmas crafts to send home to our families. We have loved getting messy with paint and glitter and we have been investigating the pretend snow that we made with shaving foam and baking powder.
Also, in the Baby Room we have been delivering parcels on the trikes outside and playing with the trains in the sandpit. Our story of the week has been ‘That’s not reindeer’ and our song of the week has been ‘Christmas pudding’.
Week 13
In the Baby Room this week, we have been exploring the nativity tuff tray and we have had the most wonderful time having our family come into nursery to join in with the Christmas celebrations. We have been listening to the ‘The Nativity’ story, dressing up and we have been dancing to Christmas songs. We have also been doing lots of creative activities such as making glittery stars and candy canes using peppermint scented playdough.
Week 12
This week in the Baby Room we have been painting Scottish flags for St Andrews day with paintbrushes and our hands.
We have also been playing with the cars and the diggers in the tuff tray moving them backwards and forwards along the roads.
We have also been playing outside collecting leaves and other natural objects.
Our story of the week has been ‘That’s not my squirrel’ and our song of the week has been ‘The wheels on the bus’.
Week 11
This week in the Baby Room we have been exploring orange shaving foam with spiders in and looking for natural/autumnal objects and collecting them to put in our autumn box. We have been playing in the snow outside and have also brought some inside to watch the change from ice to water.
We have been learning new words like ‘ice’, ‘snow’, ‘cold’ and ‘snowflakes’.
Our song of the week has been ‘The wheels on the bus’ and our story of the week has been ‘Are you there little fox?’
Week 10
This week in the Baby Room we have been exploring the red and black pasta that was set up in the tuff tray in the shape of a poppy for Remembrance Day. We used large tweezers to pick the pasta pieces up and put them into the containers.
Outside we have been collecting natural objects, talking about them and playing on the slide. We have listened to the story ‘That’s not my squirrel’ and have felt the different textures on the pages.
Also, this week we have been fitting ourselves into large boxes one with twinkly lights and the other with socks filled with different objects e.g. bells or rice.
Week 9
This week we have been celebrating bonfire night, creating firework pictures with paint and glitter. Children used words such as “firework”, “bang” and “noisy”.
We have also watched some videos of firework displays.
Our book of the week has been ‘Celebration babies’ and our song of the week has been ‘Five fat sausages’.
Outside we have been playing in glittery water watching the glitter swirl around and we have been making marks in the sand using sparkly pipe cleaners.
Week 8
Our focus story this week has been ‘That’s not my owl’ feeling the different textures on the pages.
We have been looking at lights this week using the torches and the light board. We moved the cellophane around experiencing the bright colours.
Outside we have been jumping in the leaves and kicking them in the air.
Our nursery rhyme of the week has been ‘The grand old duke of York’.
Week 7
Our focus story this week has been ‘We’re Going On A Leaf Hunt’. We have been throwing leaves up in the air and watching them fall to the ground.
We have been looking at shiny objects in our treasure basket, uses our senses to explore them and listening to the names of them. Some children used the words “plate”, “cup” and “bells”. We have also been hiding and finding objects in shredded paper which was in a large box.
Outside we have been looking at patterns in nature and shaking sensory bottles filled with signs of autumn.
Our nursery rhyme of the week has been ‘Incey wincey spider’ and during diddy disco we have been dancing to ‘Firework’.
Week 6
Our focus story this week has been ‘We’re Going On A Leaf Hunt’. We have been looking at different shaped and coloured leaves while listening to this story.
We have been learning to find objects hidden in the shredded paper and naming them as we find them.
Outside we have been digging in the mud kitchen looking for potatoes and finding apples outside.
Our nursery rhymes of the week have been ‘One little finger’ and ‘Incy Wincy Spider’.
Week 5
This week in the baby room our theme has been 'Welcome! Me and my nursery'. We have been welcoming our new friends that are joining us this term.
Our focus story this week has been 'peek a boo’.
We have been learning to fill and emptying containers while exploring the coloured rice.
Outside we have been making marks in the sand, playing on the slide and listening to sounds in the environment.
Our nursery rhymes of the week have been ‘Head, shoulders, knees and toes’ and ‘five little monkeys’.
Week 4
This week in the Baby room our theme has been 'Welcome! Me and my nursery'. We have been welcoming our new friends that are joining us this term.
Our focus story this week has been 'Baby says bye-bye'.
We have been learning to paint with tools such as paintbrushes and sponges and we have been exploring the paint with our fingers and hands making marks on paper.
Outside we have been exploring the garden area, listening to the sounds that we can hear outside including cars, trains and birds. We have also been filling and emptying containers in the mud kitchen.
Our nursery rhymes of the week have been ‘Where O Where’ and 'Incy Wincy Spider'
Week 3
Our focus story this week has been 'Baby says bye-bye'.
This week in the Baby room our theme has been 'Welcome! Me and my nursery'. We have been welcoming our new friends that are joining us this term.
We have been learning new names of items in treasure baskets and learning to dance with the scarves to ‘Hello’ by Martin Solveig.
Our messy play this week has been playing with the red, sticky jelly. We have been squashing it in our hands and tasting it. Some children said “cold” and “wet”.
Outside we have been making faces in the sand using natural objects.
Our nursery rhymes of the week have been ‘Humpty Dumpty’ and 'Incy Wincy Spider'
