Check in regularly to see what fun and exciting things your children have been exploring and learning!
Week 14
This week in pre-school we have been learning about the nativity story and how we celebrate Christmas. We have been very busy making Christmas cards and calendars for our families and also enjoyed a visit from ‘The Farm On Wheels’. We were so interested in the turkey, and the donkey but the sheep were our favourite animal. Their fur was so soft.
Our song of the week was ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’.
Week 12
This week in pre-school we have been celebrating World Nursery Rhyme Week. We have been busy singing five nursery rhymes and also learning Christmas songs for stay and play next week.
In the playdough we have been making spiders with eight legs, and on the writing table we have been drawing currant buns.
Outside we have been building ‘big ships’ with large construction equipment.
Week 11
It has been a very exciting week in pre-school. We have loved exploring the snow, making snowballs and watching it melt in buckets outside.
We have also been learning about crossing the road safely and how to be safe around the roads with our parents. We have been making marks in the playdough with cars and different vehicles and building roads, and drawing circles to make traffic lights.
Our rhyme of the week has been ‘Stop, Look, Listen for traffic’.
Week 10
In Pre-School this week we have learnt about Remembrance Day. We made a wreath of poppies that we painted ourselves and marked the day by having one minute of silence.
Our new theme is ‘Let’s Celebrate Me’ so we have been finding out all about our bodies. We have been exploring loose parts to make bodies, looking at real x-rays on the light box and tasting different fruit and vegetables, using our senses to find out our preferences.
Our rhymes of the week were ‘I’ve Got A Body’ and ‘1, 2 Buckle My Shoe’.
Week 9
This week in the pre-school room we have been celebrating bonfire night by singing songs and exploring sparkly playdough with star cutters and pipe cleaners.
In the art area we have been printing with apples to make art work to represent remembrance day and painting paper cake cases red to make a poppy wreath.
Our rhyme of the week was ‘It’s bonfire night’.
Week 8
This week in pre-school we have continued with our theme ‘Let’s celebrate Autumn’ by celebrating Diwali. We have been tasting poppadoms and vegetable samosas and really enjoyed a diwali workshop with Jee from Bhangra Fitness. She taught us some exciting dance moves and we listened to music and looked at special diwali artefacts.
Our rhyme of the week was ‘It’s Diwali’.
Week 7
In pre-school this week
We have been making hedgehogs at the playdough table, practising our skills of balling the playdough and counting out two eyes to stick on the body.
Week 6
Our new theme in the pre-school room this week is ‘Let’s Celebrate Autumn’.
We have been exploring the autumn objects the children collected on their walks and using some of them to make autumn collages inspired by ‘Andy Goldsworthy’.
Our role play area has been turned into an Indian Restaurant and the children have been enjoying order and serving food to the customers and operating the till to take payments.
Our rhymes of the week have been ‘Dingle Dangle Scarecrow’ and ‘I can See Apples’.
Week 5
This week in pre-school the children have been celebrating black history month.
In the writing area, we have been learning about Garrett Augustus Morgan, the inventor of the traffic light by drawing our own circle shapes, and exploring the colours red, amber and green.

Week 4
This week in pre-school the children have been learning about our feelings. We have been reading the story ‘The Colour Monster’ and making faces to match our feelings.
In the art area we have been exploring colour mixing. We have been learning that red and yellow make orange, blue and red make purple and yellow and blue make green. The children have really enjoyed mixing paint with their hands, describing how it feels and using their fingers to make marks.
Our rhyme of the week was ‘Miss Polly Had A Dolly’
Week 3
This week in pre-school the children have been learning more about the ‘Chinese Festival of the Harvest Moon’ by using circular cutters to make moons in the sparkly white playdough.
